i was gifted an easel recently. we put it in the corner of the apartment that was just being used for storage. it feels good to fill out your space with functional things over time.

the lighting situation isn’t ideal, but it’s nice to be able to look out the window while i paint. also we don’t have space anywhere else lol.

yesterday, i went to a cafe to draw. i went with a new friend and we did a postcard exchange. she drew me holding a shrimp :3

it’s great to draw with other people. i’m not surrounded by many illustrators, so the only drawing/painting process i see is my own. there’s a lot you can learn just by sitting next to someone and doing the same activity together.

i’m excited about the easel cause now i can paint and be around my friends at the same time. in my mind, making art has always been a solitary activity cause of the space/materials needed + i’m shy about drawing around others. i really want to change that, though. i’ve been carrying around postcard paper and drawing on the go.
